I'm kicking off a new feature on Sélavy, Art You Can Wear, with the Montréal-based fashion house and gallery...of sorts. Earlier this month, The Jealous Curator announced her collaborative "exhibition" with AAP, and the limited (and timed!) edition pieces for men and women really turned out fantastic. I pulled together a few of my favorites below, as well as one not part of the collab, but also available.
Hsiao Ron Cheng
The dreamy, pastel-hued paintings of Taipei-based artist Hisao Ron Cheng is such a perfect choice for art into fashion. I have been wanting a print of Girl for a while now, but I might prefer to wear it—all. the. time.
Spanish artist Mónica Trastoy's monochromatic, matte surfaces, and spare use of white line in her works blurs the line between sculpture and painting—AAP takes that ambiguity a step further in a pretty perfect little black dress.
An LA painter and film photographer, Jonni Cheatwood combines these media in his "Drippies" series. I like the idea that you can become a real-life version of these works!
