As spring continues here in the PNW after an almost warm holiday weekend, I find myself again thinking back to last fall's NYC trip. Jacob Hasimoto's Skyfarm Fortress at Mary Boone is another experience that I just can't shake.
15,000 square, hexagonal, and circular kites rise in a riot of color 34 feet above viewers' heads, floor to ceiling. Imposing and ethereal, the geometric formations alternate almost to transparency at some angles, and a sublime solidity in others– it is a truly immersive experience of constant discovery.
In a Huffpost interview, Hashimoto lists Minecraft and Mario Bros, as well as Brutalist architecture as inspirations– undeniably, to a stunning effect. I heard this one has done a bit of traveling, so if you do have an opportunity to see it, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
